Any car detailers? dashboard sticky and trying to clean it

Recommended Posts

Just bought a 2nd hand camry which is in really good condition. today i tried applying some interior protecter because its coming into summer and dont want my dash looking like the one in my s13. The dash is already really shiny and black buts its all sticky. I tried to wipe it off but it wont budge.

Any product i can use to get the sticky shit off without wrecking the colour of the dash?

Your dash is probably covered in ArmourAll or similar, since dealerships and scumbags seem to think that buyers are so retarded that they won't notice the interior is coated in silicone.

I'm not a Detailer and so I won't give any personal recommendations, however I would warn you to be careful with the removal process. I've cleaned a lot of plastic panels in my time, and even just using soap and a scrubbing brush can result in powery-white panels depending on what they have been exposed to, meaning some surface re-finishing is needed. I would refer you to forum posts from people more in the know:

As far as Desolve it goes, I use the product a lot and it works wonders, but I would be concerned about using it to remove silicone from vinyl. There are products on the market better suited to your needs, so I would test those first.
